There were no significant differences in the odds of having either a HA or CDM or using allied health services for women with and without dementia indicators. Conclusions: The overall use of services designed to improve the prevention and coordination of the care of older people with chronic conditions was low. Women with dementia were no more likely to access these services. Implications for public health: There is underuse of some primary and allied healthcare services designed for people with complex chronic conditions. These could be better used by women with dementia to improve the management of complex comorbidities (e.g. CDMs), to prevent the onset of disability (e.g. physiotherapy), and enhance needs assessment and service access (e.g. HAs).]]> Wed 29 Mar 2023 15:32:41 AEDT ]]> A mixed methods evaluation of Quit for new life, a smoking cessation initiative for women having an Aboriginal baby https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:50696 Wed 28 Feb 2024 15:12:52 AEDT ]]> Do rates of depression vary by level of alcohol misuse in Australian general practice? https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:31170 Wed 24 Nov 2021 15:50:17 AEDT ]]> To adhere or not to adhere: rates and reasons of medication adherence in hematological cancer patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:27917 Wed 24 May 2023 11:32:49 AEST ]]> Prevalence and characteristics associated with concurrent smoking and alcohol misuse within Australian general practice patients https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:36902 Wed 23 Feb 2022 16:03:35 AEDT ]]> Oncology nurse perceptions about life expectancy discussions: a cross-sectional study exploring what patients want to know, and why doctors don’t disclose https://nova.newcastle.edu.au/vital/access/ /manager/Repository/uon:51165 75%) want to be provided with an estimate of their life expectancy, 63% of nurses reported that <50% of patients were provided with an estimate. Further, 85% of nurses indicated that <50% of patients understand the estimate. The most frequent reason nurses perceived doctors did not provide an estimate of life expectancy was because the doctor didn’t have an accurate idea of life expectancy (80.8%). Almost one-fifth of nurses (18.3%) thought that doctors did not provide estimates because they felt it was not their responsibility to do so.
